On the hills between Forlì and the main road that leads to Florence, are Castrocaro and Terra del Sole, representing an ideal bridge between the Middle Ages and Renaissance. In 1403 Castrocaro was chosen as Capital of Florentine Romagna, the region was in fact under the rule of Florence. The legacy of this historical destiny is evidenced by these two charming old towns we visit together because they are not far from each other. In Castrocaro we'll climb to the beautiful Fortress and its historical museum to see the Domus, the Medici arsenals, the Dungeon Tower with the Hall of Torments. A short stop at Enoteca to take away the chills we still feel around and enjoy a glass of wine. Castrocaro is also extremely appreciated since from 1800 for the healing waters and is enriched by precious Art Deco buildings, made in years 1930 which are connected to the path of Rationalist Architecture. We then proceed to the citadel of Terra del Sole, built for Cosimo I de 'Medici, protected by two kilometers of walls, more than 12 meters high, with the corners of the four defensive bastions. Inside the Great Square of Arms and the imposing Praetorian Palace, Borgo Romano and Borgo Fiorentino.
