Activity description

With this original guided tour you will meet a Certified Tour Guide born and raised in Florence with whom discuss about the socioeconomic and artistic developments of the city during centuries while drinking an espresso coffee in one of the most beautiful squares in Italy. Later on we will discover together all the secrets of the Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral and the biggest dome of the world, together with the link between the beautiful monument and the brilliant Michelangelo Buonarroti. This will give us the opportunity to introduce the eclectic figure of the artist and his connection with the Medici family. After a quick look at the Medici Palace where Michelangelo lived his youth we will be heading towards the Academy Gallery with its collection of beautiful paintings that used to embellish the altars of Florentine churches (by Sandro Botticelli, Filippino Lippi, Perugino, Scheggia, etc.), amazing musical instruments collected by the Grand Prince Ferdinand de Medici (Stradivari's violins, violas, cellos, Bartolomeo Cristofori's harpsichords and first vertical piano, etc.), but especially the astonishing Prigioni, S. Matthew, Pieta from Palestrina and the majestic David by Michelangelo Buonarroti, among many other beautiful peaces of art that will give us the opportunity to talk about the culture and habits tipical of the "Cradle of the Renaissance".
