The hidden treasures

The hidden treasures

A wonderful 5-stage walking tour that will allow us to get to know splendid monuments and churches, free and still little visited. We will start from San Bernardino alle Ossa. The Church of San Bernardino alle Ossa is a special place and different from the rest of the Milanese churches. Some people will be fascinated by this macabre creation, while for other visitors it will be disturbing. The ossuary is a mystical place where bones are arranged on the walls to form a decorative composition. The second stop is the fifteenth-century former Ca Grande hospital, now a state university. We will take a tour of its magnificent kiosks and internal courtyards. The third stop is the hidden Piazza Borromeo, a true Renaissance jewel. The fourth stop is the splendid church of San Maurizio. A rich pictorial decoration made in the sixteenth century by Luini and Bergognone fully covers the articulated architectural structure. Last stop the basilica of San Ambrogio. Sant'Ambrogio is the first church in Milan (more than 1600 years old), unique in Romanesque style, rich in history, decorations and legends. It is the most sacred church in Milan since there is the tomb of the patron and protector of Milan, SAnt'Ambrogio.
