Testaccio is the original foodie neighborhood of Rome. We will meet at the new food market, a modern space with beautiful architectural elements that houses a lot of produce stalls and street food kiosks. Then we will wander around one of the few hoods in the city center that still manages to preserve its genuine soul.
We will visit some of the coolest food shops in town (such as sellers of spices, craft beers, artisanal ice-cream, coffee, cheeses, pizza, pastries, wines and more!). Our Testaccio food experience will end at the ex-slaughterhouse, which was the pivotal point of Rome’s foodie scene until last century.
Now, it is a beautiful example of industrial archaeology and it hosts the Contemporary Art Museum of Rome (MACRO), among other cultural venues.
